PROFILE
Karen Henriksen has built an international reputation for her singularly stylish interpretations of classic hat styles for women and men. She brings a milliner’s aesthetic and craftsmanship to everyday headwear, striking a carefully considered balance between elegance, innovation and practicality.
Studio KH is a new venture for Karen, entering the world of art, craft and design for interiors: handmade lightshades, created using millinery techniques and materials. Find out more here.
Karen designs and makes her hat collections and lightshades in her London studio at Cockpit Bloomsbury, where she established the brand in 2005.
After graduating from the Royal College of Art in 2003, Karen’s experiments with asymmetric pattern-cutting led to her own version of a traditional English icon, the flat cap, which became known as the Windswept Cap (read more about the Windswept Collection here).
Since then, she has continued to explore and expand her range, constantly creating and perfecting her own visions of other classic styles such as the peaked cap, the fedora, the cloche and the beret. And of course the flat cap has continued to inspire, with the men’s range now encompassing many shapes and styles.
From 2007 to 2020 the brand was a regular presence at leading fashion accessories trade show Premiere Classe, held during Paris Fashion Week each season, and has been seen in both international and British publications, including Vogue, Harpers, The Times, and The Telegraph.
We are also proud to be a pioneer in selling headwear online, since 2009.
